Bill, yes I do invest. I have IOMG, MU and WX (Westinghouse). I don't have a lot of any of them, but enough to enjoy the Iomega ride (I've been in and out since March 95) and to hate the Micron Tech dive. WX has, pleasantly, been and slow but steady riser. Before concentrating on techs, I had the opportunity to have a mess of varied stocks my brokers pressed me into make money and, mostly, lose money. Now I don't buy into any company I'm not familiar with. And I try my best to determine whether a company has something new and good to sell before I get into it. Iomega was a no-brainer - and still is.
No, I don't have NSCP - I'm too chicken! I do like to follow this thread though - it has to be the most fun one in Silicon Investor. After all, where else but this thread can the worst and most distrusted stock of the "Worst stocks for '96" be - and that stock is doing better than most other stocks on the market? Some crummy stock, huh?
On voice recognition - My Mac understands spoken commands now. Today's machines don't have to have large amounts of memory to recognize speech. They just need better software. The software always improves with time as the designers come to better understand what it takes to accomplish the job. In any case, memory requirements do grow as software evolves because software is written to be much more general with each iteration like Microsoft Office. |
