OT WMT Plan

Wouldn't it be equally plausible that if aggregate spending falls, consumers will spend a bigger share of their diminished budgets at discounters like WalMart and Costco?

WMT hasn't collapsed because it has tremendous competitive strength. Shoppers can count on them to deliver consistently low prices on a large variety of SKUs. They can do so because of simple economies of scale, i.e., they have more bargaining power with their suppliers than their competition. Look what they did to Kmart!

October-March is traditionally a very strong period for techs. You can almost throw a dart. I'm sure you can do better betting on a good January effect bounceback candidate than by shorting WMT.

JMO,
Sam
