you're welcome, tc, for sure.

i have a slight problem/mystery that perhaps someone on your thread can assist me with?

i am running ie6.0,sp1 on win2000pro w/sp3...

i am no longer receiving the Confirm File Replace dialog when, for instance, i drag and drop an url from my browser's address bar into a desk top folder, when the url has already been dropped into the folder previously.

the reason i like this Confirm File Replace dialog so much is because it affords me the opportunity to see what the file is naming itself in the folder (sometimes the name it goes by has no obvious connection to the file's content, and i elect to rename it).

with this in mind, whenever i drag and drop a web page file into a folder, i do it twice, prompting the Confirm File Replace dialog to pop up asking me if i want to replace the existing file named _______. this way i get to view the file's name and decide if it's something i prefer.

i believe this might be a win2000pro operating system issue, as i also run winxp home edition w/ie6.0, sp1, and it DOES display the Confirm File Replace dialog.

i have looked at my folder options and i don't see anything there that would effect this dialog's appearance or disappearance.

the dialog just recently vanished, and, as i say, it DOES appear for me in winxphome, but now not in win2000pro.

i have run sfc without any luck, and i have also run the ie repair tool and reinstalled ie6.0, sp1 to no avail.

other file extensions, such as jpeg or txt, when dragged and dropped into a folder as described above, do produce the Confirm File Replace dialog.

i welcome all suggestions <g3>

thanks!

:)
