In this particular case, it WAS "that good". The State AGs wanted to destroy MSFT. They're proposed remedies would have crushed MSFT in many respects. The judge gave them NOTHING. The market thought there'd be some sort of compromise at best and the State AGs got nothing. They won't admit it, but this was the most incredible loss for a bunch of State AGs in all of history.

MSFT is now essentially unscathed and free to do business. And that's something they are very good at.
