Hello Emile,

Whether church matters are to be considered binding or not would have to be whether they are based soundly on the Word.

Do you believe that the writings of the church fathers remained faithful to the canon even up until today? Is there any point in church history when they departed from the teachings in the Word while they maintained their office through succession?

In a case when two official opinions stand opposed -- one clearly from the canon and the other "Ex Cathedra," to which does the believer adhere?

Thanks.

Stan
