well over a year ago on this thread, during a discussion on spam and the consequences one suffers from opening it (the sender will know it's been opened), i posted a quote (#reply-15994334) from a gal named wanda sloan, who said, "There is a way to track mail now, yes. That is one reason that spammers use HTML format. They cannot tell, however, if you download it, they only can tell if you actually open it."
the thread discussion at the time seemed to center on whether or not this was possible (for a spammer to know if someone opened his mail).
i just ran across this goodie in pcmagazine (10/01/02 issue), and wanted to post it to further verify what sloan (and others, myself included) have said about the ability to know when spam is opened, regardless of whether or not it is deleted or replied to....
