Hi Tom,

I had unbookmarked this thread, but received a PM earlier from Solon, asking me to clarify the post I had made to you some days ago. I told him, as I tell you now, that the allusion to turds (I believe the phrase was "if you post here in the discussion, you become a floating turd as well." was in reference to this thread's title of "Septic Tank.

My understanding is that YYB, who created this thread, has been unhappy with the level of vituperation (if that's a word) here for some time and renamed the thread recently to reflect her disgust with the content.

FWIW, I believe that much of what's gone on here recently--my posts included-- has been pretty sh*tty. I was referring to my own posts as turds as well.

I didn't mean my post as a personal namecalling thing and apologize to you if you felt this was what I was saying to you.

And finally, I've known Solon for as long as I've known anyone on SI. He's a dear in private and I'm lucky to count him as my friend. I hope the two of you can sort this out.
