phoenix, I watch the days leading up to FOMC
pretty closely, and I have been doing so for about two years.

I've not been able to discern any dependable pattern at all in the activity leading up to the day of the announcement. Sometimes I've seen a "ramp" start the afternoon before the day of the announcement, and sometimes on the morning of the day of the meeting, but that's about it. Anything preceding the afternoon of the day before the announcement has pretty much been normal market activity seemingly unrelated to the announcement.
