Thanks for the heads up. I haven't used LOW enough to give them a chance to mess me over yet I guess. I better start finding the specialty yards though from what it sounds like. With Wood, I pick the pieces I want and know not to phone an order in and have it delivered. I tried that with a local store in Idaho and ended up with big knotted pieces for a 16' Pergola span that was going to be overhead with occassional snow on it. I had to send 1/6 back for them to try again. -g-

Tough to say who will win the battle. By being a huge conglomerate, they can decrease costs and squeeze out the little guys besides carrying more stock to appease the every day types that just want an electrical outlet, plumbing piece or 2x4s and some plywood. What I found in Mom and Pop stores was they rarely had what I needed and I ended up going to one of the mega stores anyway until I finally gave up and used to go to HD first.

I imagine the winner will be the one that gets their problems fixed first. Who knows, maybe I will be posting on the LOW board in a year but right now, I drove past 2 HD's to get my load this weekend and plan on doing so again in about a month when I start my next round of projects.

I will start trying to find the lumber yards, plumbing supply and electrical supply shops since it sounds like I will be having problems in the future. So far, I found a great small engine repair guy and the internet lets me buy small stuff direct. Maybe we should all start up a national lumber yard/cabinetry/door outlet. The click on it and it has to pass our stingy eyes before anything leaves the yard. -gggggggg-

Good Luck,

Lee
