Lee-- there are suppliers of cabinet doors around Lancaster Pa. The Amish make and ship them. Qulity is good but pricing is like all others. I am fortunate as Kraftmaid has a warehouse near me (the only one in the country). If I told you of the pricing there you would be sick. I man that used to work for me has kilns. I buy my hardwood from him. Example-- Oak @ 2.15 BF. That is anything upto 16' long and 19 1/2 wide planed 2 sides. It is cheaper & easier to make trim than buy it even aty the wholesalers. a company (Baird Bros) in OH makes great trim but only sells to contractors & commercial accts-- great stuff there & decent prices. A company, Seidel Hardwoods, (Whoops-name change??) makes great hardwood doors to spec @ compareable prices to the stuff put out by LOW & HD. My point is, you are correct, if you dig around you will be able to find better quality @ compareable (or better) prices near you. LOW wanted $40 for a 1X4X12,, "a premium due to the size" I was told-- and they only had 1 piece of this $9 board priced @ $40,, spec order?? Nope-- back to the kilns,,
