I'm continually amazed at the number of unrelated assumptions behind these knee-jerk reactions. A progressive tax does not necessarily have to grow. I recall an issue in the 1970s where inflation brought people into higher tax brackets without a real change in their standard of living. This was really just a natural balance which occurred by fighting a very expensive war without any explicit tax policy to pay for it (You would think we would have learned by now, but I guess the current administration had better things to do at the time). The overall revenue and rates are really a matter of budgeting.
