It seems like with the exception of February it has left little guess work to the direction of the market. Now that I look back at the period leading up to earnings in Feb it appears to be more of a sideways moving market with most technical indicators right in the middle of their readings, ie., a lot of indecision. That probably help feed the wild gyrations after the earnings.

November 2001 was the last time CSCO did not reverse the trend of the market and I think it was for a legitimate reason. The markets seemed to have put in a good LT bottom and expectation were about as low as they come.

May and Aug earnings all indicators had come close to bottoming out on a ST basis and the downtrend appeared close to over. I think CSCO just put an abrupt end to it.

It appears many indicators and trends are the opposite of their earnings the last two times, so I would guess an immediate trend reversal, but the end of the month stuff I don't know. For some reason my model still has a significant down move at the end of the year but I want to wait until before Thanksgiving to see how accurate that could be? Going straight up here without any retraces screwed things up some. <g/ng>
