I understand your point. In the final analysis it probably comes down to that. But the process of collective problem solving requires going through a process where everyone gets there together.

When I was facilitating such activities, it was imperative to keep somebody in the crowd from proposing a solution too early in the process. It's not intuitive that that would be a problem, but it is, because the others have no way of getting on board the speeding train. It also works out that the proposal often isn't the best solution, that left to work through the process, the group will come up with a better one. Strange, but true.

There is a proposed solution on the floor. And not a snowball's chance in hell of getting to it. It's been on the floor for a long time, clear to those who advocate it. But it hasn't made any headway, has it?
