I told my kids why I did what I did. If they disagreed with me, I would be fine with that. I never tell them they need to do what I do (except when it comes to eating vegetables). I only try to explain to them why I do what I do. When they grow up they'll have to explain their own behavior. The process of explaining one's actions is more important than what you actually do (imo). I find the process to be very important. After all, life is in the process.

My conscience compels me to do what I can to have the biggest impact. By voting for someone who would never win I do not have much of an impact (imo). Now I can see how you (or someone else) could analyze it differently. And when I was younger I found more joy in championing impossible causes. If my children feel the way you do, I will be happy for them. As long as they know what they believe in, and can take steps to feel they are part of the solution to getting to where they want to go, that is the main thing.
