Who drills, refines, sells equipment, controls production of, is the key.

Just so I understand you correctly: We are going to war against Iraq so that Cheney's former employer (in which he now has zero financial interest) can sell oilfield equipment to the Iraqis AFTER we defeat them in the war? That is to say, when we defeat them, we're going to go in and say, "Okay, now we've whipped you in a war. So you are now required to purchase oilfield equipment from Halliburton as a condition to the ceasefire." As you know, when oil is sold, it is sold into an open market; it isn't as though Exxon is going to wake up one morning and say, "Hell, we've received a gift from George Bush".

Is THAT what we're talking about here? If not, could you please be specific and explain to me how George Bush's "buddies" are going to benefit from the war against Iraq?
