KB, >>>I haven't heard any of the political pundits give credit to a theory I put forward on about 9/12/01 which was that, in the wake of 9/11, this country was going to make a total, across the board shift to the right, and back toward values. Losers would definitely be the entire trend we saw from about 1961 to 2001, which would include the drug culture, Hollywood, Democrats, etc. The winners would be law and order, old time values, family values, church attendance, Republicans, etc<<<

I agree with you short term, but long term we will regress to the mean. Americans have a collectively very short memory, although some things do stick like the Alamo (at least down here), Pearl Harbor, 911...

We are still a cult that worships sex and money in the eyes of many people of the world, and I can't really disagree with that viewpoint.

Everything is just too easy now, including a myriad of vices. There isn't a platform out there, short of religious wackos, supporting a return to values - and wackos never have much traction with the masses. I predict a continued slide into decadence, and short of the violent aspects I can't say I'm sorry - I look forward to more sex & money.
