Some in this group have suggested that supply problems were
responsible for lower-than-expected revenues. That is, revenues
would have been above $300 million had Iomega been able to
produce more Zip and Jaz drives. Count me as a skeptic. Every
store I've gone to in recent months has had plenty of Zip drives
and Zip disks. Jaz drives have been harder to find, but anyone
who wanted one could find one since April-May. I will grant that
Jaz disks have been in short supply, but I do not believe that
can account for the entire shortfall. The problem is simply that
demand was not as strong as many of us expected.
