"Would Gore have done as Bush has and reversed environmental and workplace protections, shoveled out tax breaks for the rich at the expense of the rest of us, shriveled the Social Security surplus and driven the country back into deficit spending? Would Gore have promoted an energy agenda that favored the industry over conservation? Would he have tried to ban some late-term abortions or pushed a prescription drug plan under which the elderly are expected to buy unregulated coverage from private insurers? Would he have handcuffed federal stem cell research that promises to cure terrible diseases or blocked new gun control measures? Would Gore be a wholly owned subsidiary of Enron and Halliburton?
