Ihappen to love the HOV lanes. My wife and I have to drive through Seattle often to travel to Tacoma, Olympia, and Oregon. We use the lanes and are astonished that so many other people prefer sitting alone in their cars to finding somebody to share their ride with to get there in half the time

This proves my point exactly. HOV lanes do not work.

I guess it really struck us when we had business down south. On our way back up I-5 during rush hour we breezed through Olympia and Tacoma, but as soon as we got near Renton the gridlock started. There weren't very many vehicles using the HOV lanes but total gridlock on all other lanes. If the HOV lanes were opened for use by all drivers the gridlock for commuters would be greatly
reduced.

I have visited NYC often and used the subway and metro.

IMO WDC has the best RTA system in America, but that does make sense considering all the pork legislators hide in bills. I don't have a problem with WDC having a superior RTA system and gladly pay to see that they do. Just wish our state government were more efficient and more accountable.

Anyway...thanks for listening.
