". . . .Apple CEO search continues
"Apple has reportedly hired several headhunters to gather candidates for the job of Apple CEO in the past week, and the first-level list should be compiled before week's end. Next week, the process of speaking to candidates begins, and the executive board will begin cutting indviduals from the lists.
"Rumor has it that Jim Barksdale, currently working with Netscape Corp., is being considered for the position. Although many consider it highly unlikely, there is a strong feeling inside Apple that an Apple-Netscape bridge will be necessary for both companies to survive the next decade, with Microsoft melding Internet Explorer with its Windows98 interface, making Netscape's Navigator difficult to install and harder to use effectively.
"Another front runner is Atari founder Nolan Bushnell. No word yet on who the "dark horse" candidates will be.
"More on this as Apple sources report in.
"Rhapsody iv18 completed, OS closing in on DR1
"The eighteenth internal version of Rhapsody that we've tracked has been completed; sources think that it may be d9c6 (developmental version 9, compilation 6). d11 is expected to become the Developer Release. Current projections show the release of Rhapsody DR1 occurring in 5 weeks, some time in late August. . . . ."
