Re If new management shows up, different story. Until then, why should the Israelis give anything to reward the current Palestinian strategy?

1) Because "giving" is not "rewarding" when one is talking about negotiations, where both sides are expected to give and take something simulaneously.

2) Because war will continue until both sides agree to negotiations (duh!)

3) Because you cannot choose the elected leader of another nation, you deal with him.

4) Because the more Israel and the US push to oust Arafat, the more popular he gets among his own people, to whom US/Israel are "the enemy"

There are more but my head is turning from too much champagne last night. For anyone who might be interested, in my little village, there is now a new club called "Le Point Rouge" and no more sleep on or near Rue du Portier :)
