True. And I don't remember anyone saying that. Instead, what Eric and I are saying is that we disagree with Frank in thinking that the profitability of very significant parts of the value chain is irrelevant.

Certainly not true of Microsoft which is indisputably a Gorilla - ask any box provider but Dell.

Comparing box makers to carriers and infrastructure providers, especially in light of the immense amount of debt that has to be serviced by the carriers, isn't very analagous in my mind. Anytime someone tells me that the financial health of a company's customers is irrelevant, I'd ask them to explain what the drivers of the company's profitability are going to be if it isn't the customers' ability to adopt product.
