Hi Mike it’s been a long time.
I am afraid to comment on this at all.
I know that both Rory and George had been working on "models" on Brazil for quite a while.
It is a huge pipe; one thing that I would question is have all the kimberlites that were tested there before done wrong?
Is this "new" model the "norm" for Brazilian kimberlites?
Since sizes of alluvial diamonds seem to be huge is the diamond distribution within the pipes the same?
For instance if a grade of 2 carats a ton is needed to be commercial and the average stone size is 35 carats might you need to process 70 tons to get a stone ? If they are colored stones with a higher value perhaps you would need to process 300 tons to get a stone it would still be a very commercial pipe would it not?
I don’t know what the "new modeling" of the Brazilian kimberlites that Rory and George were working on
But I suppose that could be a possibility that the diamond distribution may be much larger than kimberlites in the north. It would be a good theory; diamonds seem to be in alluvial deposits there. It seems to me that two diamonds were recovered in the area (Rio Albeti <sp>) in the past 7 or 8 years. I thought one was about 35 carats and one was like 75 carats both were pink to red. With sizes and valuations like that a kimberlite could be profitable with very little implied carats per ton. If the indicators are present like both Rory and George said, and they support that the kimberlites contain diamonds, perhaps huge bulks may need to be taken in order to prove a South American Kimberlite.
I know of none there that are commercial at this point in time (except perhaps the Canastra which will have to be seen) But perhaps this is a valid theory, I figure I'll let George handle that end of things but if this turns out to be what the theory is I know that both PVF/CNB had another pipe in the area that was over one kilometer across, PVF spent earn in money on that as well. Maybe the samples were too small. Food for thought.....DD
