Here's a new update on AMD I received from a research service I use...

AMD expects near-term losses, but future looks positive
Thu, 7 Nov 2002
Advanced Micro Devices plans to slash expenses and capital spending next year, including R&D, enact layoffs and report a several-hundred-million-dollar charge in the fourth quarter of 2002, as it works toward returning to profitability in 2003. The chipmaker, which has been losing money in the last few quarters, said in its analysts meeting today that part of the charge will cover termination cost for employees, although it declined to say how many people are facing layoffs. The company claims it will grow about 20%, driven by new products, and be profitable next year. A new focus on the Asian market, especially China, is also expected to fuel the growth. _______________________________________________________
btw, TP do you think DELL will start buying some AMD products...? They would be a good customer BUT I have a hunch they would push hard for very aggressive pricing.
