He "served" in the guard as a pilot for, as you point out, 1 year and 10 months - and in case you missed it, 1970-72 was, in fact, "during" Vietnam. Yeah, and I "fought" in the Iraq war from the safety of my desk job in the Pentagon that I landed thanks to daddy's connections, just to keep me out of the front lines. Seemingly you have no problem buying into the disingenuous claims from GWB press office calling "service" what was in reality a draft-dodging maneuver, plain and simple.
