I went to the HP site to search for Parts, etc. to find "No Parts Found" for a recovery kit for XE783.

It gave me a phone # to call for more support. . . I called it. . .

I found out again that is was not available. . . and was transferred to "Parts Direct" where I was told that the part WAS available BUT I had to go through an authorized service provider (a middleman). . . she gave me the Part # and gave me the Name & number of the closest "Service Provider" in my area.

I called him. . . he's checking on it (probably calling HP to order it) and will let me know what he finds out.

We both agree that I need to upgrade from Win ME (and we both agree that I have to get my current system fixed before I can upgrade). . . he said that XP Pro would be easier to get because MS is emphasizing it over 2000. . . That's OK with me.

My feelings about HP have dropped a whole lot now. . . Hey, it wasn't my fault they didn't give me a system CD with my computer! If had known this was going to happen, when it was in warranty, I would've been on the phone and probably gotten it for FREE!! Now, I will probably have to pay the middleman / dealer to get it!
HP, in my mind, now SUCKS. . . and I don't even think I'd buy a printer from them anymore. . . let alone a computer! Hey, there's DELL and Lexmark now. . . and they WANT my business!

Thank you for the great links. . .

Joe
