SONICblue and TiVo Drop Patent Infringement Suits

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 2002--SONICblue(TM)Incorporated (Nasdaq:SBLU - News) and TiVo (Nasdaq:TIVO - News) announced today the companies have reached an agreement to drop patent infringement suits that they filed against each other last year that are pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Each side will dismiss its claims against the other without prejudice.

In a joint statement the two companies said, "We believe our energies are better spent expanding the market for Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) rather than fighting each other. Both sides believe in the merits of their respective positions, but the overall success of the DVR category is what is most important to the companies at this time."
