Oh, maybe even less complicated than that. There will always be some sellers at the opening who hold through earnings, see it's not going to rocket, and then bail out their position. Then other buyers start stepping in once they see that the price is relatively firm and they're not going to get shellacked by the end of the day.

I hold GEMS but I'm not presently thinking there will be a rash of upgrades from the Q performance. Main thing is they performed well enough not to get hammered back to low teens and it's a good play for a fullblown recovery 1 - 2 Q's from now, if we are lucky there will be some anticipation. Going back a ways, there is a big resistance level at 27 so I think over this Q if it gets around 26 I will be tempted to at least sell some.
