RE: "The Weekly Standard thinks we caved."
Too funny.
Seems all the warmongering pundits and publications are pouting over not being able crank up the presses with the war they all wanted so much.
Boo hoo......<G>
And yes, there is little doubt there were timing issues, including the war erection...err...election..the start of Ramadan...and the schedule for inspections, timed to maximize the window of opportunity of best conditions for an attack if things go the way the warmongers hope.
So far Carl, things are going as you and I and small number of others have expected/predicted, however,I have to admit, that my crystal ball is becoming cloudy on what exactly the unpredictable Saddam will do.
I figure he will accept the resolutions, but will play out the clock to the day, each step of the way.He knows he's toast if he provides the excuse for an attack, and so far, everyone seems to be winning their own little battles. But as Powell , Bush and others are signalling, the moment of truth approaches, and there will be no tolerance for what has happened in the past.NONE!And that's a good thing..
Q: M.S.
So the clock is ticking on Saddam, and for the sake of the innocent people and those forced to do his bidding , I hope this all goes well.I am of mixed opinion on whether or not his downfall, if for whatever reason, would necessarily be better or worse for the ME longer term.
Pakistan is demonstrating now, that sometimes a friendly, or at least persuadable , dictator, may be less dangerous than a fundamentalist regime. The devil you know...and all that..
So the " war now " pundits and others will have to move along and find other areas of interest to sell their papers and magazines.I hear Canada bashing is good for a few copies off the stand, and if what I read about Pat B. is correct, it should keep some of them occupied for a couple of issues.
Heh heh heh
