Thanks for suggestions. Since I have lost all windows sounds also, I have been to the control panel and tested them there - nothing. :-( I am going to now assume it is the card even though the playback meter fluctuates like it is working in the audio controls window for SB. I will let you know what finally fixes this. Again thanks. Judy
