Tony,

<< OT: I am thinking of switching my service from Cingular. I know Verizon is best. >>

I'm a long time Verizon user and not looking to change and I have little or no visibility on Cingular.

Criteria for carrier selection is generally best combo of coverage, capacity, and cost, relative to your needs, where you are located, and whether you are calling locally or travelling nationwide.

Verizon & AT&T Wireless (AWS) have best coverage nationwide. AWS generally ranks highest in J.D. Powers user satisfaction surveys, but that varies metro to metro.

<< Is T-Mobile same as Cingular wrt quality, I know both use GSM. >>

T-Mobile is 100% GSM. Cingular is TDMA, AMPS and GSM.

<< Is there any other provider using same network as Verizon? >>

Several carriers roam on Verizon which is CDMA/AMPS. Sprint PCS uses CDMA more or less nationwide and roams on Verizon and its own affiliates. PCS coverage is rather weak where I am in Northeast, better elsewhere and typically pretty good in major metros.

PCS is best choice for data at the moment if you are into data services.
