The word War is is a poor choice to describe the action the US must take.A war usually involves an action against an entire country or their citizens, which is not the case here. Terrorists are the enemy to be eliminated, and only the regimes that support them. We have to get them before they get us ( over and over) and since its too late to stop them after they arrive here, we have to get them on their home soil. Like a Global police action, and in this case of Iraq, the UN has in effect, sanctioned US action( or will not condemn it) in case Iraq does not live up to its agreements. The term War was used to galvanize and bring together our citizens who must be made aware that the next attack could just as easily be Chicago, San Francisco, a Stadium or other places anywhere people gather. We have the war on drugs, the war on poverty, the war on etc without military action , this one may be different. What if the 4 airplanes had taken out the Kremlin, or downtown London, or Tokyo.? Even the Saudis had to buy off the terrorists and bow to their threats. The leaders of these nations , even Muslim nations, must recognize evil involved and will not, in private, condemn our actions. But as always, segments will bitch, and try to put the US in a bad light- but what the Hey, that would be no change from the present. Sig |
