question for anyone regarding Norton Utilities 2002 (a component of SystemWorks 2002) for Windows 2000/NT/XP...

does anyone know where the Norton Protected Files and the Recycle Bin Files are located? that is, in which folder on my hard drive?

prior to emptying these two groups of files, i would like to erase them using a shredder program. but i can not find the path.

i am NOT asking how to access the Recycle Bin in order to empty these files... that i know. i am asking where they are on my hard drive.

i am fairly certain that they are in the norton utilities folder residing within the norton systemworks folder. but then where?

the path probably begins with:

C:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Norton Utilities

i should note that i am currently erasing the Recycle Bin Files via a right-click menu option placed there by the shredder program i am using. but at this time, the option isn't showing for erasing Norton Protected Files.

my theory is, i can shred them now or i can shred them later. if i have to empty these files first, then i have to go through a wipe procedure on the hd free space, whereas if i erase them first, it's much less time consuming.

i did post this question to the symantec support site, but my experience with them usually runs from frustrating to aggravating, so i thought i'd try here.

:)
