The problem everyone in politics and the media has in admitting discrepancies of any magnitude is that it will generate calls to bring in president Carter and the U.N. monitoring team. The punditry depends on status quo, otherwise if there has been "mischief" on a gigantic scale, their credibility goes down the tubes.

It does seem a bit unnerving that their was no oversight board monitoring the results during last Tuesday's elections.
