I would never bash Norton products as I know too many knowledgeable people that swear by it.

I agree that it has to do with the particular configuration of one's machine or just maybe the install was corrupted to begin with. Could be many things and I certainly have neither time nor patience or expertise to figure it out. I just avoid it for my particular machine. I use AVG that was recommended here about 6 months ago and I love it. Better than MacAfee that kept charging me for upgrades of dat files that were never accessible. AVG does all the work with regular updates, and I have never had a virus since ........ see I do love some products out there
