Where obfuscation is useful, it becomes the norm, and only clear-minded citizens can connect the dots.

It is intuitive that there must be military secrets, and they aren't few in number or scope. We can't go around disclosing sources and methods, we can't disclose the capabilities of our hardware, and we damned sure can't disclose future military plans.

Taking it a step further, we can't be requiring government officials who are engaged in confidential discussions with advisors and officials from other nations to disclose the character and content of their discussions.

There is a massive amount of data that government should and must keep secret, lest we jeapordize investments in human intelligence as well as the usefulness of expensive military hardware.

In short, information concerning our military must be closely guarded and, at least in my view, has NOT been guarded adequately under prior administrations. The current administration is doing a much better, but not perfect, job in this area.
