Uh, walmart(?) just said they wanted thier own brand, not that they were going into the manufacturing business. Take a wild guess who would supply the machines pre branded with the store brand??? Only with corner cutting and barebones features. And no hpq warranty. For guaranteed, staged, large purchases, the company can cut the price of these quite a bit.

Compusa had there own brand, also made by compaq.
