Veteran's Day Remembrance - "My dearest old friend... I miss your loyal companionship and all the years that were stolen from us. You never asked why Viet Nam or what am I doing here? You trained, you served, you led and you sacrificed your life. My son carries your name and the medal that you wore when you took your last breath of life. I will forever judge other men by your example and carry the memory of a friend who always put others before himself." Not a 9-11 Hero, but a hero who lost his life during the Vietnam War. This message was posted as a tribute to my cousin's husband who died in Vietnam when he was 24. From the remembrance section of the Virtual Wall: Capt. B. T. Collins came home from Nam minus an arm and a leg. B. T.'s gone now but his prescription still rings loud in my ears: "No Whining! No complaining! We are the fortunate ones. We survived when so many better men all around us gave their precious lives.
