GSM1X - Can carriers operate 1X + GSM in same band
engineer
in yr reply on GSM1X where you say a GSM carrier wd naturally preserve its GSM service for subs who do not buy new handset and for roaming while adding GSM1X, makes perfect sense. But do carriers (i) in Chine (ii) in US (iii) in Europe have sufficient bandwidth allocation to divide it allocating at least 1.25mhz x 2 to GSM1X and retaining GSM service on the rest?
An article posted here a week/ ten days ago argued that GSM 1X could only be added to GSM service on a different band, e.g. 800mhz. So GSM1X would appeal only to carriers who were given access to 800mhz bandwidth in addition to their 900 or 1800 mhz band because they could not establish 1X on their GSM band w/o shutting down GSM service.
What's the story???
