Yes I agree. But you still owe the taxes on the "income" of debts forgiven before (or without) bankruptcy. That's the area of difficulty. So if you already owe the IRS bigtime. Going BK does not help much. That's my point.

So, as one can imagine, although BK has leverage, forgiving large amounts of money is a complex thing to do, requiring lawyers you can trust to the nth degree. You don't hear me say bad things about USA lawyers.-g-
