The significance of 7th Legion for SBYT.

7th Legion, in my opinion, could be one of the best selling games of this year because of its unique twist on a genre with such sheer mass appeal. From what I've red, it appears to use real-time to it's fullest effect, maximizing on the strengths of real-time strategy and minimizing on its weaknesses.

The main weakness of every real-time game that has been released is the pathetic resource management, which would cause the player to constantly toggle between the battle and the extraction of resources. The ending result is confusion and frustration that turns many players away. Despite this fact, the sheer enjoyment of watching your units blast the enemy in movie-like real-time has been enough to make real-time strategy one of the most popular genres.

7th Legion's simple system of getting instant resources from the destruction of enemy units allows the player to concentrate on the battle. This allows the player to see and constantly take part in the carnage going on in the game thus maximizing the thrill people get from blowing away their buddies. Not only is there much more visual appeal and more interaction, but advanced real-time tactics can finally be successfully implemented that come close in complexity to those used in turn-based games.

7th Legion could be the next Warcraft II in terms of breaking new ground. People are tired of seeing Warcraft II and C&C clones. There is a huge demand from real-time gamers for something with new game play mechanics and twists. 7th Legion could very well be the game to fill in that void.

Any opinions or comments?

Marc
