From Fleck hisself:

thestreet.com

Yellow-Spun Rise: Away from stocks, fixed income was up fractionally. The dollar was also up fractionally against the euro and the yen. Gold was 1%, or $3, higher, making a new high for this move. Silver was up 0.5%. Newmont Mining (NEM:NYSE - news - commentary - research - analysis) was down a couple dollars in the early going (before closing down $1.19), after announcing that it would take a couple of accounting charges for the way it recognized deferred revenue in the past. We must remember that Newmont, going forward, is being run by the people from Franco-Nevada. So this charge relates to a period when the guys who are now running the show weren't there. Meanwhile, I took advantage of the setback to buy a bunch more Newmont for myself, thinking that this is really old news and not indicative of what will happen going forward.
