Al, then you believe in sanctions against Iraq, even if it indirectly leads to the starvation of many innocent civilians? One way or another, people die, and America will still be hated.
You are putting words in my mouth (posts). I believe that the Middle East requires a comprehensive, unbiased plan to fix smoldering issues, beginning with Israel/Palestine. If we can attack the problem with a policy that demonstrates an aim to resolve fundamental long standing grievances, we subdue the anger of the common Arab, who views America as one sided, and whose anger feeds terror's power base. We need to deal with these nations honestly and not hypocritically (vis a vis selective enforcement of UN resolutions, Saudi absence of democracy, Iraq's aggression towards its neighbors, AlQueda's presumed mandate in the Arab world, Pakistan's exportation of Islamism, etc..). I think we go a lot further to reducing the problem of terror with a fair and balanced diplomatic approach. I think we solve nothing long term with another war that results in the humiliation of an Arab nation and the death of many Arab civilians and is perceived as colonialism and empire building.
