OT/Tunica:

Four comments:

1) What galls the Dems is to see the Clinton strategy co-opted by GW. That strategy was "own the middle" and sneak the left. GW's is "own the middle" and sneak the right.

2) 911 reactivated the hard core of America, the "silent majority" that Reagan tapped into. It was not GW.

3) That forces the Dems to either snipe at trivial details, take an extremist left position, or to articulate a coherent alternative centrist plan. Sniping is a loser's game, extremist positions will always lose, and the last is just plain hard to do, especially without appearing to join the party.

The article was extremist left sniping.

4) Cutting taxes will not directly stimulate telecom spending...it will bolster consumer spending. 100% guaranteed for the lower 90% tax brackets. Those 90% are not investors nor savers...they live check to check. That's why I favor adjusting the tax cut to be slightly more progressive (ie rich get less income tax cut), in return for some easement on capital gains (and maybe dividends ie rich get it back, in different category). I say this based on my view of the problems we face today. I would be one of those who would pay higher income taxes, but much more likely to take money out of "money market / safe" and make investments to offset the "hit". IOW, get the sideline money into play.

Consumer spending and investment are the roots of the economy. The economy is the root of telecom and technology . In that order, in spite of what Greenspan might want you to think.
