Some urban legends you don't even have to look up... If anything, it was a joke told somewhere and shoddy reporting (the norm it seems) took it from there.

Banks would love this though... I assume when they give you $100 that deflates to $95 before you could spend it, and then while it sat in the cash register at Home Depot it further deflates to $90 before being handed out as change to some poor sap, yada yada. Somebody finally puts the money back in the bank and learns its value is only a dime. Then the bank reinflates it to $100 for the next customer, keeping the $99.90 windfall. Wait a minute... was JPM at that meeting?
