Malheureusement, c'est erroné.
That's a prety basic chalenge that would have been overcome a long time ago.

Degradation is, in fact, a major concern for GLE. No one on earth has a fuel cell for which degradation is not a concern. GLE absolutely must increase the run length of its cell by 50% or find a way to compensate in order for it to be competitive with even piston engine generation. That said, degradation is probably much more of a concern to competing SOFC companies.

GLE has been quite open about this. I think you might want to read their news releases and listen to their conference calls again.

Fuel cells have come an astonishingly long way in the last three years, and GLE is definitely in the front ranks. They have set record after record for energy density and have excellent reliability compared to most peers. That does not mean the technology has been perfected yet.

As I said, the other technical issue is still maintaining the seal through many thermal cycles. A seal that works most of the time is not good enough for separating air from a mixture of natural gas, carbon monoxide and hydrogen at >600C (and to keep the latter away from the family). It has to work all of the time. Period.

The first person (company) to solve these issues will become a major player. That is what the entire SOFC race is about. The manufacturing design and cost reduction are secondary and essentially irrelevant without solutions to the degradation and sealing issues.

Best of luck to us all.
