Jay, if New Zealand is on the Leader's Board for economic freedom, the competition must be in a hell of a mess of government Kremlinisation and kleptocracy, bureaucracy, regulation, restriction, and subjugation.

My idea of economic freedom is a LOT more free that what we have here.

Selling freedom is an easy sell I'd say. It's probably the best thing a country can sell.

<The government should take Hong Kong's slipping score as an alert, said Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, chair professor of economics and finance at City University. "Other competitors - such as Singapore, New Zealand, Australia - they are catching up to Hong Kong in terms of competitiveness, in terms of economic freedom," >
