One question would be how the beams from multiple emmitters might interact with each other when trying to cover a full concert hall, arena, etc. In "normal" sound, sounds waves interact to increase levels when in phase waves combine and literally cancel out sound when 180 out of phase. Setting up a concert for good sound is trickier than it appears to most. This too could be the case with hss, and its use in a concert setting may be limited as a result, but who knows...
Also, seems like people like to "feel" the sound, particularly the low end. Then, there is the stage volume from accoustic instruments, drums, and amps, etc., so HSS would not be alone.
Given most PA systems are really sound reinforcement, there migfht be an application where hss is used to "target" certain areas of a concert hall, supplementing conventional systems. Big subwoofers plus hss kind of thing. Again, how hss and conventional systems and hss arrays might interact could be a factor.
There is so much conventional and good sound gear out there that breaking in a new technology can be incredibly difficult.
Nevertheless, it is an interesting possibility that until it is tried, we will not know. But, there are so many more other applications - spot ads, etc. that concerts can probabaly wait as concert applications would have little impact one way or the other on revenue potential. I'd rather a corporate deal with Coke.
