You obviously could not share a printer that was plugged into a computer that was turned OFF. Right?

All computers on the network that have something to share, must be turned ON (and operating) in order to 'share' them.

I think that is the main difference between a Print Server and a 'shared' printer. The Print Server will support computers that are on the network (turned on and operating) and will ignore (doesn't care about) computers that are turned off.
