JEDEC-Compliant DDR-II PLL and Register Solution Extends Company's Offering for Memory Module Architectures

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 2002-- IDT(TM) (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.)(Nasdaq:IDTI - News), a leading communications IC company, today announced its support of next-generation dual in-line memory modules (DIMM) with the introduction of the industry's first complete chip set supporting double data rate (DDR)-II DIMM designs. The solution, comprised of the JEDEC-defined DDR-II PLL and register, extends the company's portfolio targeting the DIMM arena. IDT is a leading provider of clock management and logic solutions and has leveraged its core competencies to meet the stringent industry requirements for DDR-II support.

The IDT DDR-II chip set includes a 1:10 PLL clock driver used for synchronization of input clock signals from the system motherboard to all SDRAMs on the DIMM. The device requires no external components and is optimized for very low phase error, dynamic phase offset, static phase offset, skew and jitter, while maintaining frequency and duty cycle over the operating voltage and temperature range. This device supports operating frequencies up to 270 MHz and is spread-spectrum tolerant.

The chip set also includes a register that drives the address signals and supports 1:1 (25 bits) and 1:2 (14 bits) configurations, allowing designers to work with a single device for multiple DIMM configurations. The register optimizes the DDR-II DIMM load by delivering proprietary output edge control circuitry that offers minimal switching noise in un-terminated lines for exceptional signal integrity and unmatched performance. The device also supports low-power standby operation, making it ideal for use in systems with strict low-power-consumption requirements.

"IDT is a leading provider of application-specific standard product (ASSP) solutions for the DIMM market and is committed to providing leading-edge solutions that meet and exceed stringent industry requirements," said Sergis Mushell, strategic marketing manager for the IDT clock management product division. "We are pleased to be the first vendor to deliver the PLL and register as a complete chip set solution for DDR-II DIMM support and look forward to the industry's adoption of this technology in the coming years."

The new IDT devices deliver performance characteristics required by current JEDEC standards and are targeted at registered DDR-II DIMM that address the memory needs of growing market areas such as servers, workstations, and communication devices.
